dg yola, aka yola da great aka lil yola, was about to be the best dam rapper in the south until he got shot in the face during a robbery (they were robbing him)… his song aint gon let up was WITHOUT A DOUBT my favorite song of 2006. anyways his album ‘gutta world’ was supposed to come out in like may or june, then he got a hole blasted through his cheek, so mans been in SERIOUS jeapordy but the word is he’s getting better and def plan to get back on track asap.

point of all this being the video above is the first installment of whats going to be a youtube documentary series called ‘music saved my life’. the video has some intense moments, and even though they put the beat behind it its real sad to see him all bugged up in the hospital. fuck a through the wire this bidness is wild. at one point hes got his grill in (wtf) and hes going “i aint gon let up. continue to stick by ya boy side… ill be outta this shit in a minute” INSPIRING

ima start w/ the weirdest one out of these… its lil b from THE PACK (”im from berkley though”) rapping over i think some edit of information society’s running (?). the beat is all over the place but i have a thing for fast raps. yesss…

kinfolk kia shine - krispy remix ft mister f.a.b. (zshare)
slightly less focused but more energetic version of the sick original. the beat is still a SLUMMMPER (crucial paul revere sample), mr f.a.b. is pretty good on it (and whoever does the last verse?) aaaaaand hes talking about $850 shoes.

this might be the best one on here — it reminds me of ying yang twins’ jigglin, with which im gona mix it to death. young l (also from the pack) did the beat. its a timeless hook too: shawty got a big ol butt its so big.

i like the way it comes out of the unnecessary fat albert sample. the beats kind of like theres a party next door and its coming throught the wall.
