this dude dlake (thats supposed to be him in the bottom right corner) popped out of nowhere* 2 weeks ago, and i’ve been bouncing back to this track whenever i want something newclubby.

here’s his mixtape. it really is a hypester kind of thing, a lot of baltimore-meets-atrak kind of stuff. he has a real cool remix of the beastie boys song girls, and the space cowboy remix of glamorous is nice too. def worth a look, i think this guys up-and-comingggg

ok this is a quick post… these guys (myspace) have a new album out, and it sounds a lot like postal service, but kind of less good singing? i like it quite a bit but i bought it itunes so you have to get tracks yourself i guess (buy it).

they’re filtering a real common break here (it sounds kind of like think…) and its annoying at first, but the guitar comes in and its ok. at first i really thought i hated this song, but i’m really feeling it now. i’m still embarassed to play it too loud though.

not on the album, but this one’s killing it on the ituens. its a cover of the tom petty song (youtube), but kind of subdued nerd-electronicky. this is the b-side remix, but i like it better because it has the nice fadeout/in at 3:33.

jah cure (myspace) is certainly the most beloved gun-toting rapist robber i can think of… i mean dudes got a nice voice but he a little badbody. he’s getting crazy press now too (fader + bichfork just last week), but i’m not going to be salty because he paid his debt. interesting, though, i can’t think of a lot of famous rapists… i mean TI takes a case for possession and, yeah, he was getting a little nutty there, and i guess kellz is on track for a statch, but how many rappers come back from RAPE charges??

def my favorite jah track, this one’s real raw. for a convict of a violent sex crime, he really runs the love songs, and you can’t hate too much on this on. i’m a sucker for acoustic guitar + singer roots songs (nh).

i’m cranking this post out real quick so i don’t have time to check which riddim this is… i remember someone else killed it though. a lot of these roots joints blend together i guess.

this one’s on the guardian angel riddim, and once again other people really dominated it (vybz’s missing you a lot is one of my favorite tracks this year… wow). a solid lovedown either way; i mean he has a bit of niche.
