when i said i hadn’t posted any folk music lately, what i meant was that i haven’t posted any DANCEHALL lately. this riddim is so crazy, reminds me of 80s movie synths or boards of canada or something. i don’t know how to describe except as really palatable. think about that…..
vinyl shotz - timba riddim (zshare .zip)
there’s the whole thing. it has bunji garlin and busy signal, and two instrumental versions. here, i’ll put my favorite one up so you can sample before you download it all. i guess this is a remix of fire now from the murda riddim? i get the impression that all these are technically remixes over the timba jawn
bunji garlin - fire now (zshare)
first i thought this was by vinyl shakerz, the guys who did ‘one night in bangkok’ and i was like wtffffff, but it is by vinyl SHOTZ, who are still from western europe. his/their myspace has some interesting remix videos (watch dem roll, voicemail’s crazy)
the cansecos’ new album came out a little bit ago. here’s what i said about them one time before:
the cansecos (myspace) have been one of my favorite indie-type groups since their self-titled in 2003. theyre on the pretty good upper class recs w/ russian futurists & cadence weapon — both worth checking — but it always seemed like their distribution was nonexistent. theyve got a fairly unique sound, like a cross between magnetic fields & postal service, in a good way. a lot of synths and mildly glitchy beats, the guy talk sings more than anything… i dont want to post any of their old stuff but its def worth a look (itunes store)
anyways you should have bought their new album by now (itunes) but if you didn’t, here is my favorite song from it
the cansecos - raised by wolves (zshare)
and here is a remix of it that isn’t as good as the original, but a remix nonetheless

i just spent 15 minutes in the same A minor loop… this is the greatest thing.
it has been one of those days. when i can’t seem to get anything else going, i like to make mashups or whatever you call it when you just put an acapella over a different instrumental. makes me feel productive without being productive.
lil wayne & trina - don’t trip (where’d you go version) (zshare)
i think this one sounds really good. i have a newfound obsession with lil wayne over mellow beats. and the fort minor song was pretty ill, regardless of what your conscience tells you… kind of like ‘apologize’ before ‘apologize’
nelly furtado - say it right (take you there version) (zshare)
all right, this one probably didn’t need to happen. the regular sean kingston track is better than ’say it right’ or at least over this beat, but zshare is free and i already paid for this website.
…
as for the new layout: i did some thinking about this site and i don’t really feel like posting images anymore. i wasnt feeling the overall look of the site and it was taking too long to load, so from now on less bullshit and more mp3 posting. since i don’t really have anything to do for a month maybe i’ll write some legitimate commentary…
